What's On My Phone Wednesday

Jayla's bow I made for her to wear at Disney

Apparently is was our dog's birthday and she tied all of her shoes with bows to the chairs

The tree in my front yard is so pretty this time of the year

She knocked out after a mommy-daughter day

He was so happy to be going home after the groomers

I think someone forgot what shape a spaghetti noodle is suppose to be

 She can never be serious

She had a sleepover with her Uncle Trey. He is hiding under the green blanket.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway I have going on!

A Pep Talk

This post is going to be short and sweet!

Things have been crazy busy around here this week with trying to get everything cleaned and organized before we leave on vacation next week so I haven't had much time to get any post put together but had to share this.

I love the message that this kid gives! Such a wise little man and he is just too stinkin cute!!

I hope you love it as much as I do!

Sunday Social

Good Morning! The weekend is over and that means it's time for Sunday Social. I hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend! It's been a rainy one here so we haven't done much of anything. It was a perfect lazy weekend.
Sunday Social

1.What is your favorite thing about spring? The weather warming up, opening your windows and letting the cool breeze in. The trees coming back to life and the flowers starting to bloom. Being able to wear my flip flops again. This southern girl loves her flip flops!

2. Favorite kind of flowers to grow or receiveI don't grow anything. I do not have a green thumb what so ever. I could look at a plant and it will start to wilt. My favorite flowers are orchids and hibiscus.

3. What is your favorite nail polish color? When it comes to nail polish, I don't discriminate. How can a nail polish junkie choose a favorite? During the spring the darker colors are put up and the bright and cheery colors are rotated out. At the moment I am loving O.P.I.Suzi's Hungary AGAIN! I just got a mani done with that color and it is a must have color!

4. What is your favorite outdoor activity? Playing with my little one at the park and having a picnic with her. It's so refreshing being able to go to the park more once the Spring weather hits.

5. Do you have any fun Spring plans? We are going to Florida next week to spend a week a with my Grandpa and take the little one to Magic Kingdom for the day. Jayla has no idea that we are going to Disney! I'm so excited to see her reaction.

DIY Disney Shirts With Clean Cut Studio{Giveaway}

With our upcoming adventure to Magic Kingdom I wanted some cute Disney shirts for us to wear.

I was on a budget and a time crunch to get us some shirts. I scoured all over etsy trying to find us some shirts. They were either out of my price range or the turn around time was too long. That is when I came across Courtney's shop, Clean Cut Studio. She sells the cutest vinyl iron decals and had exactly what I was looking for!

From the first message. Courtney was such a doll to work with. She is seriously the sweetest! I had wanted a mom and dad decal for my hubbs and I, but I didn't want them too big. I was already pushing my luck with getting the hubbs to wear a matching Disney shirt. She was happy to customize the decals to my preference

I think Courtney may have a little postal fairy hanging out in her back pocket because the decals arrived quickly. I ordered on Saturday morning and they were in my mailbox on Monday morning. They traveled from California to South Carolina in record timing!!

I was a bit nervous when it came time to put the decals on because the iron and I aren't exactly friends. I seriously don't iron anything.

My mom may or may not still do my ironing for me.

The decals ironed on like a dream and if I can iron these on and not mess them up then anyone can do this with ease.

I am seriously in love with our shirts and can't wait to rock them out at Magic Kindgom.

Courtney has been so gracious and is going to give one lucky reader a $15 credit to her Etsy shop, Clean Cut Stuido, which will include free shipping! Head over to check out her seriously adorable decals and enter the giveaway! You won't want to miss this giveaway and a chance at working with Courtney!

** I was in no way compensated for the review. I purchased the decals with my own money. The opinions in this post are just that, mine, based on my experience**

Invitation To Disney

Some you may know about our upcoming trip to Florida to visit with my Grandpa and that we are surprising Jayla with a day at Magic Kingdom.

She knows we are going to Florida to visit Grandpa Bill and that is it. There has not been a whisper about Disney with her around.

The other week I was on Pinterest and she saw a picture of Cinderella's castle on the news feed and got upset because she has never been invited and that she really wants to go. Where she came up with the idea that you have to be "invited" to go is beyond me. She quickly got over it and went about her business.

A few days pass and we are watching America's Funniest Videos.(It's a Sunday family tradition) AFV always has something about Disney on the show and once again she gets upset that she hasn't been invited. I'm talking full on tears and meltdown mode this time. I felt so bad and just wanted to tell her we ARE going! I can't take the crying.

To calm her down we told her that we will write Disney a letter telling them why she deserves to be invited and that we will mail it and then wait for Disney to send you an invitation. We told her that it could take a really long to get invited because they will get a lot of letters from other kids. It worked like a charm and the tears stopped.

We helped her write a letter and hubbs "mailed" it the next day on his way to school.

With her writing a letter to Disney and thinking that she needs to be invited to go I thought that I should come up with some sort of invitation. I enlisted my friend Sarah to use her awesome Photoshop skills and help me come up with an invitation. She came with up with the cutest design and emailed it to me for me to print off.

I can't wait for Jayla to see her invitation!!! Now I just need to keep my mouth shut for two more weeks!

Seriously, how cute is that invitation?

On Friday I will be showing you our shirts for Disney and a giveaway!!!

Glazed Strawberry Scones

My local grocery store had strawberries on sale this week and I knew I had to make some scones with them. I am in love with this recipe and it makes me want the Spring weather to get here that much quicker!

Spring fever has hit my household with a force. We are over Winter and ready to bring on the warmer weather.

For the Scones:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 Tsp salt
5 Tbsp chilled butter and cut into 1/4 inch pieces
12-14 strawberries, hulled and quartered
3/4 cup half and half

For the Glaze:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup half and half
1/2 Tsp Vanilla

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

2.  Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and cut in with a pastry blender. The mixture should look like crumbs.

3. Add the strawberries and toss to coat with the flour mixture. Add half and half. Fold gently until it begins to form a soft dough. More cream can be added if needed. DO NOT knead or over mix the dough.

4. Place dough on a floured surface and pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. With a sharp knife, cute the rectangle into 6 squares. Then cut the squares on a diagonal to make 12 triangles. Place scones on the baking sheet. Bake 16-18 minutes or until they are cooked through and golden.

5.Place parchment paper under your cooling rack and let the scones cool for about 10 minutes.

6. Make the glaze by adding the powdered sugar, vanilla, and half and half into a small bowl and mixing until smooth. If the glaze is thick add more cream by the tablespoon. If the glaze is thin and more powdered sugar by 1/4 cup until you reach the desired consistency.

7. Dip the tops of the scones into the glaze and return to the cooling rack. This is where you will be glad that you put parchment paper under the cooling rack. the glaze will drip down. Once the scones are completely cool the glaze will firm up.

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday! This weekend sure did fly by for us! I'm not ready for it to be over. Weekends seriously should include Monday.

With the end of the weekend it's time for another Social Sunday!

Sunday Social

 1. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? Cuddle up on the couch with my little one and just be lazy. Rainy days seem to drain every ounce of energy out of me.

2. What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend? Go to the farmer's market in the morning, head out to my grandma's and spend the day at the pool, and then coming home and cooking out. This makes me more and more ready for summer to come!
3. What is your favorite spring activity? I don't think I have a particular favorite spring activity. Here spring and summer almost collide with one another. I'm ready for Spring Break because that means vacation time!!

 4. What is your favorite way to spend a winter day? Winter here is very mild. We didn't get any snow, again. :( I was really hoping for some snow. It does still get cold and winter is the perfect excuse to curl up on the couch with a good book and some hot cocoa.

 5. What is your favorite season and why? Fall and Spring are almost a tie but Fall wins by a hair. I love the leaves changing colors, the smells, apple pies, hoodies and sweatshirts. I love everything that fall represents.

6. What is the best birthday you ever had? None of my birthdays really stand out in my mind as being awesome or overly special. Birthdays were a small family thing growing up. Dinner, cake, ice cream, presents, family. That's about it. I did look forward to my birthday because my grandma would always make me a cake. Grandma's cakes are the best!

Saving Maggie

My friend Amber over at My three bittles is trying to raise money to save Maggie that is in danger of being putting down.

Every ad purchased goes to helping Amber raise the money to adopt her. As I'm sure with everyone else money is tight and Maggie is about an hour and half away from Amber. The adoption fees are about $126 plus the gas to get there and back.

I mean just look at her sweet face.

You can read more about Maggie here.
If you purchase and ad with Amber, Jessica over at Girl Booklet will also hook you up with an ad. That is like getting 2 for the price of 1 just for helping this sweet puppy.

Amber is an awesome sponsor and I have had a lot of traffic come to my little blog because of her.

Let's help get Maggie to her forever home!

Happy Friday!!! I don't know about you but I'm glad the weekend is finally here! It's been a long week. Not much has really gone but I have been busy. This week was busier then it should have been.

I haven't linked up for Happies & Crappies in a while and figured it was about time I did another installment.
The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

I think this week has kind of sucked so I'm going to get the crappies out the way

Crappies

2. Nut nut got a little tummy virus and wasn't feeling good.
3. I got the tummy virus from nut-nut

3. My husband got all 100's on his midterms. So proud of him.
4. 17 days until we leave to spend time with my Grandpa in Florida. I so need a vacation and we will be surprising Jayla with a day at Magic Kingdom. She has no clue!!!!

A Hidden Little Gem

A few weekends ago we decided we needed to get out the house and find something to do as a family.

I had heard our local museum had free admission so I figured we could go and grab a quick lunch and then take Jayla to the museum.

Now we live in a small town, there isn't a whole lot to do here. I mean, we don't we even have a Target. I know, I know, the horror!!! Now that you got that shock wave out of your system let's focus back on the museum.

I've lived in my town pretty much my whole life and I had never been to our museum and didn't think it was going to be much of any thing and it would probably take us 30 minutes to get through.

I was wrong! I was really surprised and kinda impressed by our little musuem. It's definitely a hidden little gem. It had 3 floors and took us almost 2 hours to go through the museum. It was also a lot more hands on then I would have thought. We all enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back again in the near future.

The picture on the bottom left was in the General Store area and it was wide open for you to look through. It had all sorts of ledgers and tabs on what people bought and who. There really didn't seem to be much organization to it but it was neat to look through. I wish it was organized a bit more to see if my husband's family was in it.

They had a little dress up area which nut-nut loved! I wasn't too fond of this area. You just don't know when the last time those clothes were cleaned and how many people have worn them. Eww.

She got the biggest kick out this thing. She couldn't believe how many of her there was! The downstairs area was really geared towards kids with a lot of hands on science activities. There was even a Wii down there for them to play with. We spent most of our time downstairs.
