This cake is another family favorite of ours! My brother request this cake every year for his birthday.
What you need:
1 box of yellow cake mix
2/3 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup pecans{this is optional, I left them out because my child doesn't like nuts. It is still just as good without the nuts}
2 tsp cinnamon
2 cup powdered sugar
2+ Tbsp milk
Heat ove to 350 degrees. Grease a 13x9 cake pan.
Mix together cake mix, oil, eggs, and sour cream together in a large bowl.
In a small bowl mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans{if you are using them}
Spread half of the cake mix into the cake pan and sprinkle the brown sugar mixture on top. Spread the rest of the cake mix on top.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until thin. You may have to add a bit more milk.
Prick cake with a fork and pour icing on the cake.
Let sit until the icing is set.

Oh How Pinteresting!
I'm sure we have all seen the pins of the painted knife block floating around Pinterest world. I know I have, and I have this one pinned and knew I wanted to do it the moment I saw it.
This project cost me a total of $0. I had everything I needed to revamp my knife block.
The paint is from a nice sample that Valspar sent me a while back. I picked the color called sprinkles. The sample came in a nice sized tub and even had a mini roller and tray.
The black paint is acrylic paint I had leftover from another project.
My knife block went from this.
After a couple coats of paint it looks like this.
I'm not all that crazy about the E. My paintbrush slipped and I had to attempt to fix it. I'm sure my OCD will get the best of me and I will redo the E. Eventually.
I love how it turned out and adds such a pretty pop of color to my teeny tiny kitchen.

One Of Those Days
Ever have one of those days where nothing goes as planned?? Yeah, that's how my day is going.
My child didn't want to cooperate this morning while getting ready for school and was acting like this.
Even though today hasn't gone as planned or as smoothly as I would have liked. It could have been worse. I mean, any of these things could have happened to me.
My child didn't want to cooperate this morning while getting ready for school and was acting like this.
The hubbs fell yesterday and sprained his ankle and decided to go to the doctor today. Anyone that really knows us can tell you how often I am at the doctors for him. In fact, we were just in the ER the other week for him.(See this post.) I seriously should buy stock within the hospital seeing as how they get so much of our money. He gets hurt/sick so much much this is how I feel when something happens to him, again.
I wanted to upload pictures off of my camera so I could get today's original post up and schedule the rest of weeks. As you can see from this post, that didn't go as planned either. My camera's battery decides to die and is currently charging. Uploading the pictures will have to be postponed until tomorrow.
This is what today can do.

Sunday Social
Well folk's it is Sunday again and that means another edition of Sunday Social.
This week is all about those awkward years.
1. What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake? Oh goodness. Those really big Dr. Seuss type hats were very popular in my middle school during 8th grade. Everyone had one, and everyone wore one. Even me. They were the most ridiculous looking things and not a single person looked good in them.
2. Who were your best friends in High School? I'm not really friends with many people from high school. The ones that were my friends aren't now and the ones I wasn't friends with I am now. With us not being friends anymore, I'm not too comfortable discussing it. Don't want to violate anyone's privacy and put them out on blogland like that. I will say I was the type of person that had friends in every little clique.
3. What was a typical weekend like for you in High School? Work. I worked a lot in high school but when I wasn't working I was partying. I was a wild one.
4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? Tell us about them. I really didn't date anyone in high school. Sure I had a fling or two while I was in high school. They were either already out of high school or went to a different school. I was really all about myself in high school and was too busy doing my own thing to worry about a boyfriend.
5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends? Spill your secrets. The only one that I can think of is the teacher alert code. We would all smoke in the bathroom after lunch and if you saw a teacher coming someone would ask for a tampon. Oh how we were so cool back then. *eye roll*
6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be? My Sophomore year in high school a local radio station was holding a spirit contest. The winning school would have a free concert at their school. The bands playing were popular but weren't big names. I can't remember who they were now or what they played. To win we had to send the radio station index cards with our name, grade, and high school. Teachers were letting us fill out these index cards through the whole class. Other then that, I couldn't wait to get out of high school.

Happies & Crappies [5]
We all survived the week! I'm so ready for a nice weekend at home with my little family.
It was a slow week, not too much happened around here so let's get down to business. I'm linking up for the Happies and Crappies.
Happies
1. I actually got a good bit accomplished while nut-nut was at school.(she only goes for 3 hours)
2. Nut-nut only had a 3 day week at school! She was excited to have extra "stay-home days"
3. Nut-nut went to stay with her Grandma from Wednesday evening to this morning
4. I actually had almost a day in half with the house to myself. I enjoyed it!
5. My favorite deli had some of their Cajun Shrimp Dip on sale today! Score! Love that stuff!!
6. I had my first guest post over at Carolina Fireflies. You can check it out here
Crappies
1. I was sick the whole time Nut-nut was away. I had so much stuff around the house I wanted to get accomplished. None of it got done.
2. It's a yucky, rainy day. I hate having to grocery shop in the rain. Ugh.
3. Looks like it's going to be a little longer before the hubbs gets his raise. We are tired of waiting on paperwork. Mama needs money!
4. My dog smells bad. I can't stand a stinky dog and he is not easy to bathe either.
